What's a good inexpensive $100ish airgun scope?
I've had two of those cheap $20 tasco units from crappy tire, and I'd say after about 100 rounds, they start to fall apart-can't hold a zero kind of thing. I read somewhere it's because an airgun has a forward recoil component and rifle scopes are built for rearward recoil?? Any truth to this? Are there specific scope out there for airguns? I'm only shooting max 25 yards Matt |

yeh that's not airgun specific though...I found so far crosman, gamo and hawke make airgun specific scopes. But I have no idea where to buy these things, not at cabelas, lebaron or basspro!!

Winchester makes one too which gets favorable reviews. Checked out walmart and crappy T last night,,,,nadda for airgun specific. I did see some on the shelf at basspro a few weeks ago. Why I didn't buy one then I have no idea, but I guess I need to go back!

^^ Thanks!
I found one today at crappyT for $45. I guess it depends on which crappyT you go to, but the one I went to had a centerpoint 4x32, "airgun approved." It even comes with real bases/rings. Hopefully it'll work Matt |

the mounts are very important in a spring piston airgun, finding some mounts with a pin/setscrew so they wont slide backwards with every shot is of paramount importance
BSA makes alot of good-enough scopes that can be had on EvilBAY for 60-100$ ive shot thousands of rounds through a gamo spring gun with a bushnell from canadian tire, 4-9x42, it was 100$ and hold centre for around 400 shots before having to move it a couple clicks either way (i assume its the mounts shifting a lil) i put a nc-star 4-32 (it was free $) on my gamo now and its taken est 1000 shots without issue (yet) had to recentre it a couple times i would be very picky with scopes i would suggest to buy for a spring piston airgun, either that bushnell or a bsa would be my only suggestions my personal hammer-smashed scope experiences include tasco, leapers, centrepoint, nc-star the tasco and nc-star quickly resulted in broken crosshairs the centrepoint not holding zero but to top it off actually the leapers didnt get zero'd to start with it was built so sloppy funny how a scope will last years on a centerfire rifle and $h!t itself after a dozen shots out of a break-barrel airgun most scopes aint made to handle the violent motion of the gun, a spring piston gun will give a small rearward inertia upon pulling the trigger followed immediatly by a sharp smack as the piston hits the front of the chamber, setting up weak crosshairs for breakage |
