Default I'm a bow n00b

Well, not even a n00b since I don't have any bows of any sort. Guess you could say I'm bow-curious HAHA.

Is there a page of definitions somewhere? I keep seeing terms like "draw weight," "draw length," "risers" etc etc. I have nooo idea what these things mean. I'd like to get a bow, but a used one, save some coin ya know. And honestly if I were to go look at a used one somewhere I wouldn't even know how to see if it properly fits me and whatnot. I don't really know where to start with bows, I don't know any bowhunters....my cuz shoots a bit (very well I have to say) but is by no means an expert or very knowledgeable on how to buy the right bow for the right person type of idea. I wonder if there's an intro course I can take somewhere??

Default bow ed.

Awsome,
I don't know where you live, but try to find a reputable archery dealer in your area. If you find a good shop they will measure the proper draw length and help you choose a bow that fits you and your needs.
Don't let anyone pressure you into something. You should like the bow for the way it feels, the looks, and don't start with too heavy a draw weight or you will not be able to shoot enough comfortably to become good with it.
Most good shops will have an area to let you try a few different bows.

Hey yeah I did find out that the bow shop up in waterloo runs a six week program for beginners. I'm going to check that out

Well I checked out the 6 week program at shooter's choice in waterloo. There is no classroom component, and they only just touch on crossbows. (apparently overly simplex) The program is almost all shooting practice with a compound bow. So since I'm more just interested in crossbows I just talked myself out of that course too.

They do do individual lessons at $30/hr for one person, down to $10/hr with 4 people.

If you're willing to travel from your place in Timmins, you'll find this indoor and outdoor facility one of the best.
